The excellent Popshot have once more opened their doors for submissions for their sixth issue. And this time the theme is one of their most tricky: love.
There’s such a volume of love poetry out there, and in these jaded times it’s almost impossible to get it right without being cliched (but when it’s right, the poetry can be just amazing). Here are the guidelines;
-Poems must be 25 lines or less and written to the theme.
- Send no more than 3 poems.
- We look for poems with originality (which means we don’t want clichéd love poems about pounding hearts and comparing thee to a summers day). Think outside the box, write honestly and write what you’re proud of.
- Poems with a focus on rhythm, repetition and pattern are preferred but this definitely doesn’t mean obscure free verse is overlooked.
- Please include a paragraph or two about yourself, a short explanation of the poem, why you came to write it and what it means to you.
So get submitting, send your finest loving thoughts to submit@popshotpopshot.com by July 25th 2011 at the very latest!
